I don’t know if any of you know, but Srila Prabhupada had an urgency. Not only did he try to encourage us individually to really take what he was saying, but it was our responsibility to really hear him and then act upon it. There are a lot of different kinds of hearing. There is hearing that goes in one ear, and you go, “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” and it goes right out the other ear. We do that daily. It is a useless kind of hearing. But hearing in Krishna consciousness is required. It’s where it goes inside and it shoots around, then goes right to your heart. It starts cleansing your heart of all kinds of dirty things, and then you act upon it with your will and your enthusiasm and intelligence, and you make advancement in spiritual life. So Srila Prabhupada was never slow in his dealings; he wanted things done very fast, and the temple at Bury Place was taking a long time. So at the end of his stay at John Lennon’s, he said, “I will personally open this temple if you can’t do it.” So he then gave us the ultimatum – two weeks.
